Where do I install my CGI scripts?

These instructions apply to hosting ONLY accounts and not to sites that have been designed by Webdimension. If Webdimension have designed your website, you will not need to read these instructions.

The whole of your webspace is cgi-enabled.

This means that you can install and run cgi scripts from any part of your webspace.

Where is the cgi-bin?

Because the whole of your webspace is cgi-enabled, there is no longer a need for a specific cgi-bin.

However, if you need one, or are used to running scripts from inside a cgi-bin, then you can simply FTP to your webspace and create a new folder called cgi-bin and place your scripts in there.

Can you install a script for me?

Please contact us for more information.

How do I run a form on my web site that allows users to send me details?

Please contact us for more information.

What mode should I upload my scripts in via FTP?

CGI and PERL scripts should ALWAYS be uploaded in ASCII mode.

Scripts uploaded in binary will not work correctly. One way around this is to amend the first line of a script to read #!/usr/bin/perl --

Also, make sure that if you have written them yourself or made changes, then the scripts should be edited in a program like Notepad or TextPad, and not Wordpad, Word etc.

What is the path to perl?

/usr/bin/perl

What is the path to sendmail?

/usr/sbin/sendmail

What is the absolute path to my site root?

This is found in the email that was sent out when you ordered the webspace.
